Mercedes-Benz S-Class

2009 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The S-Class is available in four distinct models: S550, S600, S63 and S65. The S550 is also available with the 4-Matic, Benz's all-wheel drive system. Regardless of which one you may choose, you're assured a quality vehicle that performs well, offers ample interior space, exceptional comfort, and a history that has few rivals.
Inside any S-Class, occupants are surrounded by serious leather, highly polished woods, large gauges, numerous power amenities and myriad techno gadgets. The S-Class is also one of the heaviest sedans you can buy - pressing the 5,000-pound mark. Thanks to its blatantly stiff body, the big Benz handles more like a sports car than a land yacht and yields little noise, vibration or harshness.
For road boiler types, the S63 and S65 would be your match. Hand crafted at the AMG facility, the 63 is a hot rod S550, while the 65 is a supernova S600. The S65 is an absolute king of the hill, boasting a twin-turbo V12 huffing out 604 horses spinning a 5-speed automatic, and providing its occupants with all the conceivable amenities that make an S-Class an S-Class. It also flashes to 60 miles per hour in just a tick over four seconds, or roughly as quick as a Ferrari F430. Conversely the S63's 6.3-liter V8 uses 518 horsepower through a 7-speed autobox, taking about a second longer to 60. Special aero kits, interior appointments, wheels, tires, and little odds and ends separate the AMG equipment list from those other S-Classes, which are usually much more conservative.
Economically minded individuals will be more impressed with the S550, a truly respectable vehicle in any court. Offering a symphony of standard features and luxuries, the 550 boasts the best fuel efficiency with 14 city/21 highway from its 382-horsepower V8 and a 7-speed automatic, while the S63, S65, and S600 mirror one another with 11 city/17 highway. The S600 may just offer the highest level of true zen. Packing a 510-horsepower wallop, the twin-turbo V12 churns a 5-speed automatic and propels its vault-like body to 60 in just 4.7 seconds, making it just a hair out of line with the AMG cars. You also get special interior appointments, such as an Alcantara headliner and heating-cooling-massaging front seats.

Rusnak Supports the 2nd Annual
Pasadena Platinum Gala

2nd Annual Pasadena Platinum Gala

Held on May 8, the second annual Pasadena Platinum Gala raised more than $25,000 for the Pasadena YMCA. More than 20+ restaurants, including JJ Steakhouse, Marston’s, Santorini, and The Langham, provided a beautiful array of delicious fare for attendees. LA County Sheriff Byron Ward gave an incredible performance as he sang the national anthem.
Corresponding with the evening’s theme – Platinum – Rusnak Auto Group provided five of their luxurious automobiles, all in platinum silver color, for viewing and photo opportunities.
This year, both Bob O’Rourke and Bill Lofthouse were honored as People of the Year, for their never-ending commitment and dedication to helping others in their community. Logon to www.THEmagazineLL.com to read the complete feature articles on these two notable public figures.

Prep's 2008 Golf Tournament
Supports Faculty Enrichment

The Flintridge Prep Annual Golf Tournament was hosted by Prep’s Fathers Club at La Canada Country Club.  Once again, the proceeds from this event benefit the John Plumb ’64 Endowment Fund in support of faculty enrichment programs. Fathers Club President John Taylor, Alumni Tournament Chairman Glenn Leisure ’72, and Barbara Ealy, Prep’s Director of Special Events, organized one of the best tournaments in recent memory. Adding to the excitement this year, tournament sponsor Rusnak Jaguar Pasadena offered the All-New 2009 Jaguar XF as the Hole-in-One prize on the par-3 Hole #1. Rusnak also donated a 3-day, 2-night vacation package to the historic resort hotel, The Peabody, in Memphis, Tennessee, and a TaylorMade "r7 SuperQuad" driver as additional hole-in-prizes for the other par-3 holes. Special thanks is owed to the Rusnak public relations department, who assisted in the promotion of the tournament. Seventy-five alumni, current and past parents, faculty, and students competed in this year’s tournament. Lunch and a putting contest proceeded the 1:15 pm shotgun start.
Following the tournament, Prep’s golf coach Bob Loughrie MC’d the awards and raffle prizes ceremony. First place in the “Low Gross” competition went to the foursome with past Prep parent Dan Hurley, Rob Hoertz, Mike Surface, and Andy Williams. “Low Net” was won by the team captained by golf coach Bob Loughrie, with former Rebel head football coach Marty Konrad (who coached Prep's 2003 CIF championship team), alum Connor O’Byrne ’02, and Tom Fry. Although it did not occur at the hole offering the 2009 Jaguar XF, one of the participants, Scott Richardson, scored a hole-in-one on the 16th hole winning the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad driver. Once again a “big thank you” goes to Flintridge Prep’s Fathers Club and the Development Office who helped with registration and tournament setup.

11th Annual Big Night Out Raises Just Under $210,000

Andrew Arizmendi, Anthony Guthmiller ( ASC Executive Director), Yvonne C. Benson, Liz Rusnak Arizmendi, Jill Barnes, Eric Johnson(President ASC Board President)

On Saturday, May 10, AIDS Service Center (ASC) hosted the 11th Annual Big Night Out. This years gala reception was held at a grand Spanish Colonial Revival home of 5,200 square feet, built by Glover & Kauth in 1926 and located in Altadena. The unique event was attended by over 500 guests who sampled fine fare from several local restaurants, specialty drinks and bid on an array of over 200 items at the silent and live auctions, which generated $120,000. At the close of the live auction, guests dispersed to one of 15 exclusive dinner parties in some of the region’s most distinguished and historic settings.
“I was very encouraged to witness the support of this community as I greeted each guest upon their arrival to Big Night Out. Our agency continues to sustain itself by the continued involvement from our diverse community.” said Yvonne C. Benson.
The crowd became very quiet when Ariel, one of our 11 year old clients spoke to the group, thanking them for their support of her family in dealing with the issues related to their HIV. Eric V. Johnson, ASC Board President shared, “This is what it is all about. This little girl is a wonderful reminder to all of us of why we are here tonight. It puts my life into perspective and reminds me of what is important.”
Rusnak Jaguar and Rusnak Audi Pasadena supported Big Night Out as a valet sponsor. Bentley Pasadena donated a weekend drive package as a live auction item.
Big Night Out has become one of the region’s most enthusiastically anticipated events and ASC’s premiere fund raising event. This year’s event, which raised just under $210,000, was a grand success, the proceeds of which fund the services provided by ASC which improve the quality of life of those living with HIV/AIDS throughout Los Angeles County.

Aids Service CenterAIDS Service Center (ASC) provides HIV-related services to individuals and families in Los Angeles County. ASC takes pride in providing a continuum of services to those affected by HIV/AIDS. With a staff of 65 and a volunteer base of over 600, ASC provides food, housing services, transportation, comprehensive case management, child care, mental health services and advocacy to over 1,500 clients and their families each year. In addition, ASC reaches 4,000 community members annually with HIV prevention and education services, which include The Positive Workplace, a corporate focused training program and SHARE, a sexual health and relationships educational program targeting youth from grades six and up. ASC also offers free and anonymous HIV testing. Information on AIDS Service Center can be found at www.aidsservicecenter.org.

Rusnak Airs TV Commercials

As most of you know, we recently produced a number of television commercials that incorporated our talented employees. Every one of the “actors” in them works for our company.
The spots for Porsche, BMW, Audi and Mercedes focus on Certified Pre-Owned and the extra attention we give “sweating the details” at Rusnak. We also created a commercial to introduce the new Hyundai Inland Empire we just opened last week.
Many thanks to all the associates that participated in the making of these spots. Thank you Stephen Gill, Rick Ojeda and Dave Swartz for the high quality creative and production. Thank you Adlink/Time Warner for helping us get these on the air.
Below are links to the commercials that are now on YouTube.com.

Thanks for setting the higher standard. The Rusnak Standard.

Rusnak Audi & Bentley Pasadena

The Pasadena POPS

The Pasadena POPS returns to beautiful Descanso Gardens for a summer of what no other orchestra offers - extravaganzas unequalled for talent, entertainment value, delicious dining, an intimate setting, and free parking!
Taking place during the weekends of June 20 and 21, July 18-20, Aug. 15-17, and Sept. 5-7, Maestra Rachael Worby and The POPS takes audiences on a journey through music, poetry, dance and more.
“It's important to me to tell a story with each performance,” Worby says. “I want each performance to be a unique experience for every audience member, and music is just the first step on that journey.” Each POPS evening at Descanso Gardens begins with easy freeway access (the Gardens are located near the intersection of the 210 and 2 freeways) and free, convenient parking. Descanso is a 160-acre botanical treasure, with the nation's largest camellia collection in a forest of mighty oaks, thousands of fragrant roses, a tranquil Japanese Garden and Tea House, singing birds, splashing streams and sensational horticultural displays.
“I've been to summer concerts elsewhere, like the Hollywood Bowl, but the POPS is by far the best value,” said Delores McAllister. “Descanso is so close, so easy to get to, and there's free parking - going to a concert is painless compared to other venues. You're relaxed when you get there, ready to enjoy the show.”
Before each POPS performance, guests may savor elegant dinners at linen-covered tables surrounding the stage prepared by Joachim Splichal's Patina Group (available by pre-order), or they may bring their own picnic basket and wine. Table seating is available in Sections A and B, and individual theater-style seating is available in Section C.

From The Rusnak Mailbox

Rusnak Mailbox

Numerous letters of gratitude were received this month. Here are a couple we would like to share with you.

We start off this month’s mail with a wonderful letter to Paul Rusnak:

Dear Paul,

It is a pleasure to extend congratulations to you as one of the finalists for the 2008 Dealer of the Year Award, presented by Newsweek Magazine. This is a very significant honor, and it is a source of pride for the City of Pasadena.
This recognition on such a short list is already a significant accomplishment. Obviously I and your many other friends in the community will be following the outcome of this process for recognizing a dealer for outstanding contributions to the community and the international automobile industry. Thank you for all you do, and best wishes to you for this process.
City of Pasadena
Sincerely,
Bill Bogaard
Mayor of Pasadena

Dear Mr. Bradford (General Manager, Rusnak Audi Pasadena),

I’d like to take the time to acknowledge my Service Advisor, Johnny Borja. I have been bringing my Audi to Johnny since 2005 and he has always been professional, courteous, friendly, and efficient. Johnny always makes servicing my car a pleasant experience and I look forward to seeing him each and every time I’m at the dealership. Rusnak is fortunate to have Johnny on their team of Service Advisors and they should consider him an asset to their staff.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Dear Beshoy Abdou (Sales Manager, Rusnak Pre-Owned Pasadena),

I would like to take this moment to thank you for the exceptional level of service you have provided me during the recent purchase of my vehicle. I am very impressed and I must say pleasantly surprised by the level of personal care you have shown towards me throughout the entire purchase of my vehicle. You have demonstrated professionalism, care and attention to my needs as a customer and a person in this transaction, and I wanted to let you know how appreciative I am of your efforts. Your willingness to go above and beyond the point of sale is a quality I have not often encountered in automotive sales and I commend you for that. You have made the purchase of my vehicle a very pleasant experience and have dispelled some preconceptions I had based on previous experiences. I could not have asked for more than the excellent service you have provided.
I would not hesitate to do business with you again in the future and will strongly recommend to anyone I know who is interested in purchasing a vehicle that they go and see you first. Thank you again for all your help in making my vehicle purchase a memorable experience.

Sincerely,
Mario Caya

Dear Mr. Fakhoury (General Manger, Rusnak Jaguar),

I wanted to extend my thanks for a couple of things.

First of all, thanks to Rusnak for sponsoring the hole-in-one car (2009 Jaguar XF) at our Flintridge Prep Annual School Golf Tournament. Rusnak has a well deserved reputation of giving back to and participating in the communities it does business in. On behalf of the Flintridge Prep Fathers' Club I want to thank you individually for devoting your time to making trips to the school to the tournament , etc., and your infectious enthusiasm throughout the process. It was a real pleasure to have you involved. I have reminded the fathers on several occasions that Rusnak Auto Group is the Official Auto Dealership of Flintridge Prep.
Secondly, thank you for the introduction to your Sales Consultant, Theresa Espineli. She was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was extremely knowledgeable about the XF. When I picked up my new XF on Friday she took the extra time to sit with me for well over and hour and show me how the many technical bells and whistles worked and how to set all of the various options that are available. She clearly went above and beyond what one would expect. She was in no hurry and came across in a manner that showed she really cared about what she was doing.

Thank you again.
John R. Taylor,
Flintridge Fathers' Club President and New XF owner.

Hi Liz,

Thank you again!  We are getting such great buzz from the golf tournament and Rusnak Jaguar's involvement!  Everyone was blown away with the additional gifts you were offering at the three other holes! Thank you so much for your generosity and your enthusiasm in raising money for our school!
We look forward to working with you again this summer for our benefit.  Again, thank you very much!

Very sincerely,

My friend, Shirley, and I really enjoyed ourselves.
Anyway ...thanks again and look forward to getting together sometime soon.
