Six Decades of Rusnak: A Brief History of Risk and Success

Success isn't born overnight. It takes an entrepreneur with vision, grit, and determination to make something special. That's what Paul Rusnak set out to do almost six decades ago, and that legacy continues stronger than ever, as the Rusnak Auto Group serves drivers in Los Angeles County, Orange County, South Bay, and all of Southern California.

It all started in 1959 when the Rusnak/Lazar "Jet Imports" dealership was opened in Culver City; and from there Mr. Rusnak opened a Triumph dealership in Los Angeles one year later in 1960, marking his very first foray into new car dealerships. It certainly wouldn't be his last, as he opened a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena in 1966.

But there's something about true European sports cars that catches the attention of any car lover. Mr. Rusnak was no exception. They weren't common in the United States at the time, but Mr. Rusnak decided to change that. In 1970, he opened Rusnak Porsche/Audi, followed by Rusnak MG, Triumph, and Jaguar in Culver City in 1978, which would eventually move to Pasadena in 1986.

The next two decades were no slower for Mr. Rusnak, who tapped into the potential of the Thousand Oak market and opened Rusnak/Westlake Porsche Audi in 1981, Rusnak BMW in Westlake Village in 1982, and Rolls-Royce and Bentley dealerships in Pasadena in 1984. In 1991, the 20th century was capped off with the opening of Rusnak Mercedes-Benz in Pasadena and Rusnak Volvo in East Pasadena.

That would prove not to be the end of the expansion for Rusnak Auto Group, because the 2008 opening of Rusnak Hyundai Inland Empire in Loma Linda sparked a flurry of activity over the next few years. Including opening the new Rusnak BMW in Westlake Village in 2009, and the purchase of Jaguar Land Rover Anaheim Hills in 2012, marking the first Rusnak dealership in Orange County.

In 2013, Victoria Rusnak was named the President and CEO of the Rusnak Auto Group. Her fruitful appointment resulted in an Automotive News 100 Leading Women award just two years later in 2015.

After all these years, the Rusnak Auto Group continues to show signs of health and growth. Just this past year in 2016, Rusnak South Bay opened in Torrance with Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and FIAT franchises. Plus, the new Mercedes-Benz of Arcadia also opened, including Sprinter and Metris Vans.

It's hard to grow a thriving business, and yet maintain a family-owned charm and strong commitment to the community. Yet the Rusnak Auto Group has done just that. Experience it for yourself at any one of our Rusnak Auto Group locations!
